ATTY. IGNATIUS MICHAEL "MICKEY" D. INGLES
He splits his time between working as an associate in the Law Firm of Ingles Laurel & Calderon where he practices taxation, corporate, and sports law, and teaching as a full-time professor at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, where he teaches Constitutional Law, Taxation Law, Emerging Issues in Sports Law, and Robots, Artificial Intelligence, and the Law.
He is the author of Laws for Sports and the Sporty, the country’s definitive sports law textbook. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of Batas Sportiva, the first and only law blog dedicated to Philippine sports law, and sits as the only Filipino member of the LawInSport Editorial Board. He has also written sports articles for Spin.Ph and Rappler.com.
Atty. Mickey also authored Tax Made Less Taxing, a best-selling textbook on Philippine taxation which is now on its 2nd edition. He has also written various law journal articles on sports law, the law of religion, the law of robots, and the constitutional aspects of student social media use, which have been published both in the Philippines and the United States.
He graduated salutatorian from the Ateneo Law School in 2012, where he was also given the St. Thomas More Award for Most Distinguished Graduate. He ranked first in the 2012 Philippine Bar Exams. He obtained his LL.M. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2016. He is a licensed attorney in the Philippines and the State of New York.
When not busy lawyering, he can be found in the soccer field. He was the starting right winger of the Ateneo Men’s Football team that won a record three straight University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) championships from 2004 – 2006. He was the team captain from 2005 – 2006 and was named 2006 UAAP Athlete-Scholar of the Year.
